Gennadi Sarafanov was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut who contributed to crew training at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center.
Born in 1942, Gennadi Sarafanov graduated from the Soviet Air Force Academy and served as a fighter pilot. He was selected for the cosmonaut corps in the mid-1960s and underwent rigorous spaceflight training. Although he did not travel to orbit, he played a vital role in preparing crews for missions to Salyut space stations. After leaving active service, he served as a senior instructor at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. He was honored with military decorations for his contributions to Soviet aviation and space exploration. Sarafanov passed away in 2005, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to aerospace advancement.
