Born on March 15, 1977, Sandeep Unnikrishnan was commissioned into the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army in 1999. He served with the National Security Guard's special forces and led the assault on the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel during the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
