Stephen Decatur was a distinguished U.S. naval officer and hero of the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812.
Born in Maryland in 1779, Decatur joined the United States Navy as a midshipman at age 17. He gained fame for daring raids during the First Barbary War, including the burning of the captured USS Philadelphia in Tripoli harbor. During the War of 1812, he commanded several successful naval engagements against the British. He achieved the rank of Commodore and became a national celebrity. Decatur died in 1820 after sustaining a fatal wound in a duel, cutting short the career of one of America's early naval heroes.

He was known for his efforts to modernize the Greek armed forces and strengthen NATO alliances. Angelis retired from public life in the late 1970s but remained respected for his leadership. He died in 1987, leaving a complex legacy in both military and political arenas.

Robert F. Overmyer was an American Air Force colonel, test pilot, and NASA astronaut who flew on the STS-5 and STS-51-B Space Shuttle missions. He played a key role in early shuttle operations.
Born in 1936, Robert F. Overmyer graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served as an Air Force pilot and test pilot before joining NASA in 1978. He flew as pilot on STS-5 in 1982, the first operational shuttle mission, deploying communications satellites. In 1985, he commanded STS-51-B, the Spacelab 3 mission, conducting scientific experiments in orbit. Overmyer's expertise extended beyond flight; he developed shuttle approach and landing techniques for astronauts in training. After retiring from active spaceflight, he directed research programs for NASA and the Department of Defense. Overmyer's dedication to aviation and space exploration advanced the capabilities of the shuttle program until his untimely death in an aircraft accident in 1996.
