British Army Air Corps officer and the first British ESA astronaut to visit the International Space Station.
Selected by the European Space Agency in 2009, Peake became the first official British ESA astronaut.
He launched to the ISS on Soyuz TMA-19M in December 2015 and served on Expeditions 46 and 47.
During his mission, he completed a six-hour spacewalk and conducted numerous experiments in microgravity.
An accomplished flight test engineer and Army helicopter pilot, he holds degrees in aerospace engineering.
Peake has written bestselling books and inspired students worldwide through educational outreach.
He became the first Briton to run a marathon in space, completing the London Marathon on a treadmill aboard the ISS.
Upon return, he continued to promote STEM education and public engagement with space exploration.
