Dick Clark was born in Mount Vernon, New York in 1929 and began his career in radio before becoming the host of American Bandstand in 1957. He popularized rock and roll music by introducing new artists to teenage audiences and earning the nickname America’s Oldest Teenager. In 1957, he founded Dick Clark Productions, producing game shows, award ceremonies, and televised specials. Clark hosted the annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcast for over four decades, making it a New Year’s Eve tradition. He received numerous awards for his contributions to television and music before his death in 2012.
