King Naresuan was a Siamese monarch celebrated for leading Ayutthaya to independence and his legendary elephant duel against Burmese forces.
Born as a prince of Ayutthaya, Naresuan ascended to the throne in 1590 after returning from captivity in Burma. In 1593, he famously faced the Burmese crown prince in a mounted elephant duel, securing Siamese sovereignty. Naresuan led multiple campaigns against Burmese incursions, expanding and defending his kingdom's borders. He implemented administrative reforms to centralize power and promote economic growth. Under his reign, Ayutthaya experienced a cultural revival, with flourishing Buddhist art and literature. Naresuan died in 1605 while leading a military expedition, and he remains a national hero in Thailand.

Wrangel emerged as a capable commander during the Russian Civil War and earned the nickname 'Black Baron' for his leadership and demeanor. In 1920, he took command of the White forces in Crimea and led a strategic but ultimately unsuccessful defense against the Red Army. After overseeing the evacuation of thousands of soldiers and civilians, he lived in exile in Belgium and France until his death in 1928.
