Dmitry Zaikin was born in 1932 in the Soviet Union and became a military pilot. He joined the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center as an instructor, preparing cosmonauts for space missions. Zaikin taught flight techniques, zero-gravity operations, and emergency procedures to would-be spacefarers. He contributed to the success of early Vostok and Soyuz missions by refining training protocols. After a long career, he retired in the 1980s and was honored for his service to the Soviet space program. Zaikin died in 2013, remembered as a key figure behind the scenes of human spaceflight.
