Born in Massachusetts in 1897, Robert E. Gross graduated from MIT and joined Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in 1933. He orchestrated a takeover of the company and guided its development through the challenging years of the Great Depression. Under his leadership, Lockheed produced iconic aircraft like the P-38 Lightning fighter and the Constellation airliner. During World War II, Gross’s strategic vision bolstered Allied air capabilities and expanded Lockheed’s global reach. Born into the Dolan family media empire, he joined Cablevision in 1990 and rose through the ranks to become CEO. Under his leadership, the company expanded its cable services and acquired regional sports networks. Dolan oversaw Madison Square Garden, including the New York Knicks and Rangers, and modernized the venue. In 2015, he led the spinoff of MSG into a separate public company, where he serves as executive chairman. Known for controversial management decisions, he remains a prominent figure in sports and entertainment industries.
