Selected as part of NASA Astronaut Group 19 in 2004, he first flew on STS-126 (Endeavour) to the ISS in 2008. Kimbrough served as a flight engineer on Expedition 49/50, performing multiple spacewalks and scientific experiments. He commanded the Crew-2 mission aboard SpaceX Crew Dragon in 2021, furthering commercial crew capabilities. With over 220 days in space and six spacewalks totaling more than 30 hours, he now mentors future astronauts.
