Bill France Sr. (1909–1992) was an American motorsports pioneer who co-founded the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) in 1948. The Iron Sheik, born Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri in 1942 in Tehran, began his career as an amateur wrestler for Iran. Uriah Rennie was born in Sheffield on 16 December 1959. He began refereeing in local and regional leagues before advancing to the Football League in the early 1990s. In 1995, he made history by becoming the first black referee in the Premier League, overseeing top-flight matches for over a decade. Rennie officiated more than 280 Premier League fixtures and was praised for his authoritative presence and match control. Internationally, he was FIFA-listed from 1998 to 2004, handling UEFA Champions League and European Championship qualifiers. He retired from professional refereeing in 2008 and has since dedicated himself to mentoring and developing new referees. Rennie's pioneering career has had a lasting impact on diversity and inclusion in football officiating.
