Stéphane Brosse (1971-2012) was a pioneering French mountaineer and ski mountaineering champion renowned for his technical skill and endurance. He won multiple world titles in ski mountaineering, setting speed records in the Alps and Himalayas. Brosse specialized in rapid ascents and descents of high-altitude peaks, combining skiing prowess with mountaineering expertise. In 2012, during an expedition on Lhotse, he tragically fell to his death while attempting a descent from Camp I. His passing marked a significant loss for the ski mountaineering community, which respected him for his humility and passion for the mountains.
