Leibniz made groundbreaking contributions to mathematics, including the independent discovery of differential and integral calculus. He proposed the binary numeral system, which underpins modern computing, and designed one of the first mechanical calculators. As a philosopher, he formulated the concept of monads and advanced a rationalist metaphysical framework.
