Born in 1955, Richard J. Corman began working in his family's construction business before founding the R.J. Corman Railroad Group in 1973. Under his leadership, the company expanded to offer track construction, maintenance, switching services and wreck cleanup across the United States. Corman was known for his hands-on management style, commitment to safety and innovative use of technology in railroad operations. He also supported community projects and educational initiatives in his home state of Kentucky. By the time of his passing in 2013, Corman had built a diversified transportation services empire that continues to be a major player in the industry.
