Tom Crean (1877–1938) was an Irish seaman who played crucial roles in the Heroic Age of Antarctic exploration. He joined Robert Falcon Scott's Discovery Expedition and later sailed with both Scott and Ernest Shackleton. Crean's endurance and seamanship were vital during the ill-fated Terra Nova and Endurance voyages. He received medals for bravery during the rescue of fellow explorers on Elephant Island. After his polar adventures, he returned to Ireland and ran a pub, sharing tales of his exploits. Crean is remembered as a model of courage, loyalty, and resilience in extreme environments.
