His major work, 'Historia patriarcharum Maronitarum,' preserves invaluable accounts of Maronite leaders. He founded schools and promoted learning, ensuring continuity of Maronite traditions. El Douaihy died in 1704, celebrated as a scholar and shepherd of his church.
