Edward Clancy (1923-2014) was an Australian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. Ordained in 1946, he served as Archbishop of Canberra-Goulburn and later as Archbishop of Sydney. Elevated to the College of Cardinals by Pope John Paul II in 1988, he was known for his pastoral outreach, commitment to social justice, and engagement with ecumenical dialogue. Clancy oversaw significant growth and modernization within the archdiocese, including church architecture and parish development. He retired in 2001 but remained active in church affairs and charitable work until his death. Clancy is remembered for his leadership during a period of change and his dedication to both faith and community service.
