This feast day brings together the celebrations of Arnold of Soissons, Domingo Ibáñez de Erquicia, Eusebius of Rome, Jonathan Myrick Daniels, and Maximilian Kolbe. Arnold of Soissons is venerated as the patron saint of hop-pickers and Belgian breweries. Domingo Ibáñez de Erquicia is remembered for his missionary work in Japan and ultimate martyrdom. Eusebius of Rome served as pope and guided the early Church through trials of persecution. Jonathan Myrick Daniels was a civil rights martyr remembered by the Episcopal Church for his sacrifice. Maximilian Kolbe volunteered to die in place of another prisoner at Auschwitz and is honored as a symbol of selfless love.
