Robert Dudley (1574–1649) was an English explorer and cartographer who conducted voyages along the coast of South America. Commissioned under Spanish patronage, he charted segments of the Amazon and Orinoco rivers, producing some of the earliest accurate maps of the region. His work combined first-hand exploration with precise measurements, setting a new standard for geographic documentation. Born in London, Dudley spent much of his career in the Viceroyalty of Peru, where his sketches and journals were highly valued.
