Göran Kropp was born in Stockholm in 1966 and developed a passion for extreme challenges early in life. He achieved international fame in 1996 by cycling over 30,000 kilometers from Sweden to the base camp of Mount Everest. Without supplemental oxygen, he successfully summited Everest later that year, demonstrating remarkable endurance and self-reliance. Kropp authored books and documentaries about his expeditions, inspiring a generation of adventurers. He continued mountaineering and exploration until his untimely death in a cycling accident in 2002. His feats remain a testament to human courage and determination.
