Born in 1824 in Richelieu, France, Jules Chevalier was ordained a priest in 1849 and felt called to address the spiritual and material needs of the marginalized. In 1854, he established the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, emphasizing compassionate service, Eucharistic adoration, and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Under his guidance, the congregation rapidly expanded, opening missions across Oceania, Africa, and Europe. Chevalier’s visionary leadership fostered a global community of priests and lay collaborators dedicated to social justice and education. He died in 1907, and his congregation continues his mission today.

Alois Kayser was born in 1877 in Germany and ordained as a missionary of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. He arrived in New Caledonia, where he dedicated his life to serving Kanak communities, learning native languages, and compiling dictionaries and grammar texts. Kayser’s linguistic work preserved many aspects of Melanesian cultures and facilitated cross-cultural understanding. He also oversaw educational and healthcare initiatives at mission stations. In 1944, during World War II turmoil, he died in New Caledonia, leaving behind a rich legacy of missionary scholarship and cultural preservation.

Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar was born in 1921 in West Bengal, India, and later became a disciple of his teacher, Baba Trilochan Khan. In 1955, he founded the Ananda Marga movement, promoting a synthesis of spiritual practice and social service. Sarkar developed Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT), a socio-economic model aimed at equitable resource distribution and community welfare. He authored over a hundred books on philosophy, economics, and spirituality, often writing under the pen name Shrii Shrii Anandamurti. Despite facing political imprisonment from 1971 to 1978, he continued to write and teach globally upon his release. His teachings emphasized meditation, yoga, and moral living as tools for individual and societal transformation. Sarkar passed away in 1990, and his movement remains active in over forty countries.
