Born in 1944 in Kadhimiya, Baghdad, Ahmed Chalabi studied mathematics in the United States.
He founded the Iraqi National Congress in 1992 to oppose Saddam Hussein’s regime from exile in London.
He was instrumental in providing intelligence—later discredited—on Iraq’s alleged WMD programs before the 2003 invasion.
Chalabi served as Deputy Prime Minister and held various governmental positions in the new Iraqi administration.
His career was marked by both influence and controversy, including accusations of financial impropriety.
He died on November 3, 2015, leaving a complex legacy in Iraqi politics.
