Frank Borman is an American former astronaut and USAF pilot best known for commanding Apollo 8, the first crewed mission to orbit the Moon.
Frank Borman was born in 1928 and graduated from the United States Air Force Academy before joining NASA's astronaut corps.
He flew on Gemini 7 in 1965, performing four days of endurance in space alongside Jim Lovell.
In 1968, Borman commanded Apollo 8, making history as the first mission to orbit the Moon and broadcast live images back to Earth.
After retiring from NASA and the Air Force, he held leadership roles in the aviation industry, including as CEO of Eastern Air Lines.
Throughout his career, he was celebrated for his pioneering spirit, technical expertise, and contributions to human space exploration.
