World Anti-Doping Agency is formed in Lausanne.

The World Anti-Doping Agency was established in Lausanne in 1999 to lead global efforts against doping in sports.
On November 10, 1999, the International Olympic Committee and various governments collaborated to found WADA. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, the agency set out to harmonize anti-doping rules across sports and countries. WADA introduced the World Anti-Doping Code to standardize testing protocols and sanctions. Over time, its work expanded to research, education, and laboratory accreditation. WADA’s formation marked a key milestone in preserving fair play and athlete health. Today, it continues to oversee compliance at major international competitions, including the Olympics.
