Andrzej Czok was a Polish mountaineer famed for pioneering climbs in the Himalayas and pushing the limits of winter alpinism.
Born in Łopuszno, Poland, Andrzej Czok honed his skills in the Tatra Mountains, mastering technical winter ascents. He became a prominent member of the Polish Himalayan school, participating in pioneering winter expeditions. He contributed to the first winter climbs of Dhaulagiri and Everest, showcasing advanced high-altitude techniques. In early 1986 alongside Jerzy Kukuczka, he made the first winter ascent of Cho Oyu's north face, a groundbreaking achievement. Tragically, he died during the descent, but his daring spirit continues to inspire mountaineers around the world.
