Lino Lacedelli was born in 1925 in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. He joined the landmark 1954 Italian expedition that achieved the first documented ascent of K2, the world's second-highest peak. Alongside Achille Compagnoni, he reached the summit after overcoming extreme weather and altitude challenges. The expedition remains one of the most storied chapters in mountaineering history. Lacedelli's technical skill and resilience set new standards for high-altitude climbing. He later worked as a mining engineer and shared his experiences through writings and lectures.
