Soviet physician and cosmonaut, the first medical doctor to travel to space.
Boris Yegorov was a Soviet physician and cosmonaut who flew on the Voskhod 1 mission in 1964. He became the first medical doctor to travel into space, conducting biomedical experiments to study the effects of weightlessness on the human body. Yegorov graduated from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and joined the cosmonaut corps in 1963. His work provided valuable data for future long-duration space missions. After his spaceflight, he continued his medical research and teaching until his death in 1994.
