Born around 1270, Roger Bigod succeeded as the 5th Earl of Norfolk and became a prominent figure in Edwardian England. He held vast estates and served as Marshal of England in several campaigns against Wales and Scotland. Bigod was influential at court and involved in negotiations with the crown over feudal rights and obligations. His leadership in military expeditions and his status as a magnate made him a key player in 13th-century English politics.
