Reginald Alexander Duff debuted for Australia in 1897 and quickly became known for his graceful batting style. He formed one of the first great opening partnerships in Test cricket, contributing to multiple century stands against England. Duff toured England in 1899, scoring heavily and helping Australia reclaim the Ashes. Despite his on-field successes, he struggled with health issues after retiring in 1905. His premature death at age 33 in 1911 cut short a life marked by sporting brilliance and personal challenges. Duff remains remembered as a pioneer of Australian cricket's golden era.
