Louis Victor de Rochechouart de Mortemart was a French nobleman and courtier at the court of Louis XIV.
Born in 1636 into the illustrious Rochechouart family, Louis Victor held the title of Duke of Vivonne and served at the heart of Louis XIV’s court. Known for his refined manners and loyalty to the king, he participated in court ceremonies and military campaigns. His sister, Madame de Montespan, was the king’s influential favorite, strengthening his family’s standing. Mortemart managed estates, acted as an advisor on court affairs, and upheld the traditions of French nobility. He died in 1698, leaving behind a legacy of service and devotion to the Sun King’s reign.
