In 1901, she founded the Dohnavur Fellowship to rescue children at risk of temple prostitution. Over a thousand children found refuge, education, and medical care under her guidance. She authored several books detailing her experiences and spiritual insights. Carmichael remained in India until her death in 1951, and her legacy lives on through the continued work of the Dohnavur Fellowship.
