Soviet Air Force colonel and cosmonaut who commanded the Soyuz 15 mission to the Salyut 3 space station.
Born in Ulyanovsk in 1926, Dyomin served as a test pilot in the Soviet Air Force. He was selected as a cosmonaut in 1967 during the Soviet space race. In August 1974, he piloted Soyuz 15 on an expedition intended for the Salyut 3 military station. The mission faced docking failures, but Dyomin safely returned to Earth with his crewmate. He later worked as a flight instructor and contributed to training new cosmonauts. Dyomin received the title Hero of the Soviet Union and various service awards. He died in 1998, remembered for his role in early Soviet space exploration.
