Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea)

Hojicha is a crystallization of Japan's unique tea culture, created by roasting sencha or bancha tea at high temperatures of around 200°C. Through the roasting process, excess astringency and grassy notes are eliminated, replaced by a fragrant aroma and deep sweetness. This transformation deeply resonates with late autumn's natural display—fallen leaves returning to the earth, revealing essential beauty. Hojicha's brown color reflects the earth after harvest, mirroring November's spirit of gratitude for the year's bounty. With low caffeine and rich in the aromatic compound pyrazine, hojicha serves as a meditative beverage for modern people, calming the mind and nurturing inner warmth at day's end.
