Born in Bilbao in 1864, Miguel de Unamuno became one of Spain's most prominent intellectuals. He served as rector of the University of Salamanca, shaping educational and cultural life. Unamuno authored essays and novels, including the influential The Tragic Sense of Life and Mist. He often found himself at odds with political authorities for his outspoken views. He was exiled during the Spanish Civil War but later returned to Spain. Unamuno's blend of literary art and philosophical inquiry continues to influence thinkers worldwide. He died in 1936, leaving a profound legacy in literature and philosophy.
